Terms of Service
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The True BBEG. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. The service is operated by Ner Tamid LLC, a California limited liability company, doing business as The True BBEG (“we,” “us”). These Terms apply to the service at truebbeg.com and dmdavid.org.
The service
The True BBEG is a scheduling tool for tabletop role-playing game groups: connect a calendar, set your campaign’s availability rules, and the service proposes session times based on availability shown on members’ connected calendars and campaign rules. Proposals may be incomplete or inaccurate; you are responsible for confirming sessions with your group. You can add a proposed session to your own calendar. The service also includes a companion hub with campaigns (including support for more than one game master), character tools, a game compendium, and a personal library of game content you upload. The service is currently provided free of charge. We may set and change limits on uploads and storage, and may introduce paid features in the future. We will not charge you for anything without clear notice and your agreement at the time.
Accounts
You need an account to use most of the service. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Please provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms.
Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create and upload — campaigns, characters, scheduling rules, and library files. By uploading library content, you confirm that you own it or have the right to use it in the service and to share it as the service does. Under the service’s library model, content you upload becomes available inside the service to you and to members of campaigns you belong to; that pooling is part of how the service works. Content you create in a campaign is visible to that campaign’s members.
To operate the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, process (including extracting and indexing text and data), and display your library content and campaign content, solely (a) to you, (b) to members of campaigns you belong to, and (c) to our hosting and infrastructure providers acting on our behalf. We will not use your content for advertising, sell it, publish it outside the service, or use it to train AI models. This license ends when the content is deleted from the service, except for backup copies retained for a limited time.
If you leave or are removed from a campaign, your library content stops being pooled to that campaign. You may delete library files at any time; deleting a file removes it, and content extracted from it, from the service for all members. If you delete your account, your library files and everything extracted from them are deleted, including items you pooled into campaigns — campaign members will lose access to those items, and the content is no longer visible to anyone. Before removal we notify affected campaigns and give members a notice window (currently 30 days) so another member who owns the source book can upload and pool it themselves. We may remove content sooner, without notice, in response to a valid legal notice (such as a DMCA takedown), and we may retain copies where the law requires us to. Campaign content you created (such as characters or scheduling rules) may remain visible to the remaining campaign members unless you delete it first. We cannot retrieve copies other members may have made outside the service.
You are solely responsible for content you upload and for having the right to share it with your campaign members. You agree to indemnify us against third-party claims arising from content you upload in breach of these Terms.
Calendar connection
Connecting a Google Calendar is optional. Our handling of calendar data is described in the Privacy Policy. You may disconnect at any time, which revokes our access and deletes your stored calendar data. Session proposals are computed from the calendars members have connected; we cannot account for events that are not on a connected calendar.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service. That includes uploading content you do not have the right to share, or uploading malware or content that is illegal, harassing, or infringing; attempting to access another user’s account or data; scraping, bulk-downloading, or automated access other than through features we provide; circumventing upload or storage limits; reselling or redistributing content obtained through the service; interfering with the service’s operation; or using the service for anything unlawful. We may remove content or restrict features that we reasonably believe violate these Terms.
Game content and third parties
The service includes reference content published for free use in game system reference documents, alongside content from your own uploads. This work includes material from the System Reference Document 5.1 by Wizards of the Coast LLC, available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Dungeons & Dragons is a trademark of Wizards of the Coast LLC, and Google Calendar is a trademark of Google LLC; The True BBEG is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast, Google, or any other game publisher.
Copyright complaints
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Send notices to our designated agent at legal@truebbeg.com or Ner Tamid LLC, 444 Alaska Ave Ste AYR851, Torrance, CA 90503. Our DMCA page explains what a notice must contain, provides a form for submitting one, and describes the counter-notice process if you believe your content was removed by mistake. We will remove or disable access to content identified in a valid notice and may terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
Availability and changes
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any content is accurate. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give notice before they take effect, such as in the app or by email. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, stop using the service and you may delete your account.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising from the service will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending access
You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, poses a risk to the service or others, or on reasonable notice if we discontinue the service. On termination, your right to use the service ends and your content will be handled as described in “Your content.” Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, liability, governing law) survive.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of California, USA. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
